We’re back with our monthly update. September was an incredible month for the Beau Biden Foundation. We had a surprise appearance from President Barack Obama at our cocktail reception and, thanks to the continued and growing support of advocates like you, surpassed the fundraising goal we set for the event. Here are a few Beau Biden Foundation highlights from September.
Wilmington News Journal Article – Beau’s top priority as Attorney General was child protection. When a local pediatrician in Delaware was charged with hundreds of counts of child sexual abuse, Beau prosecuted the case to the fullest extent of the law. He fought to make sure the pediatrician would never walk out of prison and that families and victims of his unspeakable crimes were provided the resources necessary to begin the healing process. After the case was closed, Beau became even more determined to end child abuse through prevention education and awareness. Read about the case that made ending child abuse Beau’s mission.
Cocktail Reception and a Surprise Appearance – The Beau Biden Foundation Cocktail Reception and Silent Auction was a night to remember. More than 600 attendees were in the crowd and over $400,000 was raised. Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden hosted the event at the Wilmington Country Club. President Barack Obama joined and took the stage to speak about Beau and his important vision of a world in which no child is abused or neglected. If you didn’t get a chance to attend, you can watch a video of the President and Vice President speak here.
