October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Beau Biden was committed to protecting victims of all forms of abuse and supporting survivors by speaking out against domestic violence.

The facts are startling:

COVID-19 and quarantine restrictions have led to a significant spike in incidents of domestic violence. External factors that add stress and financial strain can create circumstances where the safety of victims and survivors is further compromised. For many survivors, staying home may not be the safest option. This is a critical time for victims and survivors – and for children who witness domestic violence.

1 in 15 children are exposed to intimate partner violence each year, and 90% of these children are eyewitnesses to this violence. Studies also show that these children have reported lower levels of social competence, fewer interests outside of school, and less involvement in social activities compared to children from nonviolent homes.

Please join the Beau Biden Foundation in raising your voice for those who may not be able to. Reach out to your local lawmakers to encourage them to support legislation that helps protect victims and survivors of abuse.
