Each year the Beau Biden Foundation for the Protection of Children joins forces with national partners for Five Days of Action – a week designed to raise awareness and inspire adults to take action to protect children from sexual abuse.
This year’s focus is to take things “One Day at a Time” in helping protect children from – and preventing – child sexual abuse. When adults understand how abuse happens, recognize the warning signs, and respond responsibly to prevent abuse, they foster a culture of child abuse prevention.
The statistics are shocking:
- One in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday.
- Six in 10 child sexual abuse victims will never report their abuse.
- Nine in 10 of child sexual abuse victims are abused by someone they know, love, or trust.
In 2010, Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden and his team successfully prosecuted one of the most prolific cases of child sexual abuse.
The Beau Biden Foundation carries on Beau’s commitment to protect children and confront abuse. Together, and through campaigns like Five Days of Action, we can bring awareness to the issue of child sexual abuse in our communities and have important conversations around how we can all work together to prevent abuse from happening – “One Day at a Time.”
