Protecting children. Empowering communities.

A message from the team

Every week, we meet parents, teachers, and volunteers who want the same thing: to make sure every child feels safe and supported.

That is what drives our work at the Beau Biden Foundation. This month, we trained school nurses, shared new resources for safer online gaming, and welcomed neighbors in Lewes who want to help protect children.

Your support makes this possible. Thank you for being part of this work. We wish you and your family a safe and happy Halloween.

Talking with your child about online gaming

Online gaming is one of the most common ways children connect with friends. But they are not just playing with classmates. They are also meeting strangers, and not everyone has good intentions.

In-game chats, private messages, and online gifts can open the door to grooming or inappropriate conversations. As a parent or caregiver, you do not need to know every game or app, but you do need to stay involved and talk with your child about safety.

Online Gaming: Tips for Protecting Children shares six tips from our free guide, Online Gaming: Tips for Protecting Children. You will find steps for setting privacy controls, having conversations about red-flag scenarios, and supporting healthy screen time habits.

You do not need to be a tech expert to help protect a child. You just need to ask questions, stay connected, and listen.

Community members take action to protect children

On Oct. 16, community members gathered at the Lewes Public Library for a free session on recognizing, reporting, and preventing child abuse.

Participants learned how to spot signs of abuse, understand mandatory reporting in Delaware, and take action when something feels wrong.

Thanks to the Lewes Rehoboth Beach Rotary for sponsoring this event and to everyone who showed up to help protect children in their community.

Partner Spotlight: Delaware School Based Health Alliance

This month, we are proud to highlight the Delaware School Based Health Alliance, a Shield of Protection partner committed to keeping children safe in schools.

Earlier this fall, the Alliance led a child protection training for school nurses. These trusted adults are often the first to notice when a child needs help. The session focused on recognizing signs of abuse, responding with care, and following Delaware’s reporting laws.

The Beau Biden Foundation supported the training as part of our shared mission to help schools strengthen child protection policies and build safer learning environments.

When community partners take the lead, more children grow up safe and supported.

Your role matters

The work of protecting children is not limited to a single person, profession, or organization. It is shared across families, schools, community centers, and every place where children live and learn. At the Beau Biden Foundation, we are building that shared responsibility into action.

When you take the time to read a blog, attend an event, or introduce a friend to our mission, you are helping grow a culture of prevention. You are showing that child protection is not someone else’s job. It is a value we all hold, and a responsibility we all share.
