Protecting children. Empowering communities.
A message from the team
Every child deserves a safe environment to learn, grow, and thrive. But that only happens when adults act, when we invest in prevention, strengthen partnerships, and equip communities with tools to keep children safe.
This month, we’re highlighting what action looks like. You’ll read about our recent Child Protection Classic, meet a partner that’s shaping future leaders, and learn how we help organizations prevent abuse before it happens. Your support makes this work possible.
Teed up for prevention. Driven by purpose.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2025 Child Protection Classic at DuPont Country Club. It was a day well spent, filled with great golf, a successful silent auction, and an inspiring evening reception.
We are especially grateful to our Defender Sponsors: Artesian, Buccini Pollin Group, Discover, JPMorganChase, and University of Delaware, whose partnership helped make this day possible.
We were honored to have Former President Joe Biden join us on the course and at the reception. He spoke about Beau’s commitment to protecting children and thanked attendees for helping to keep his legacy alive. His words were a powerful reminder that preventing abuse takes all of us, and that everyone can make a difference.
Back to school safety: Protecting children online and off
As summer winds down and the school year ramps up, families are focused on routines, calendars, and supply lists. But back-to-school season is also an important opportunity to revisit how we keep children safe in classrooms, during after-school activities, and online.
Our newest blog covers:
- What cyberbullying looks like and how to talk to your child about it
- Steps to ensure after-school programs follow strong safety practices
- Questions every parent or caregiver should ask before school starts
- How to plan for emergencies like weather events or lockdowns
- Ways to bring a safety workshop to your school or youth group
Whether you’re a parent, caregiver, coach, or youth program leader, your role matters. Children thrive when adults are prepared, involved, and paying attention.
Partner spotlight: Strive: How You Lead Matters
Strive: How You Lead Matters develops student leaders through experiential learning, reflection, and challenge. Through immersive retreats and real conversations, Strive challenges young people to reflect on who they are, what they value, and how they show up in the world.
That kind of leadership starts with safety. As a Shield of Protection® partner, Strive is taking important steps to protect the students in its program. Their team is reviewing child protection policies, learning how to recognize signs of child abuse, and building stronger boundaries that keep everyone safe.
We’re proud to stand beside organizations like Strive that care deeply about the young people they serve and take action to protect them.
Events that support prevention
October 16 – Free Community Information Session
This public session is designed for anyone who wants to learn how to recognize and report child abuse. It also includes an overview of Delaware’s mandatory reporting laws. Whether you are a parent, coach, teacher, or neighbor, you’ll leave better prepared to protect children in your community.
December 4 – Holiday Social
Our annual Holiday Social brings together partners, supporters, and friends to celebrate the progress we’ve made together. Mark your calendar and stay tuned for registration details in the fall.
Your role matters
The work of protecting children is not limited to a single person, profession, or organization. It is shared across families, schools, community centers, and every place where children live and learn. At the Beau Biden Foundation, we are building that shared responsibility into action.
When you take the time to read a blog, attend an event, or introduce a friend to our mission, you are helping grow a culture of prevention. You are showing that child protection is not someone else’s job. It is a value we all hold, and a responsibility we all share.
